ABSTRACTIKA
ABSTRACTIKA was founded in 2014 in Belfast by Teresa Sánchez.
With a background in Psychology and Music Education, she spent several years working in these fields before deciding to temporarily leave them behind and pursue what truly ignited her passion: the worlds of art, illustration, and fashion.
What began as a small hobby quickly gained attention—people admired the unique clothes she wore and often asked about them. Encouraged by this interest, she started participating in local markets, where she began selling her own designs.
Her main source of inspiration has always been music and the many subcultures it has inspired—an identity, a lifestyle.
From the beginning, the goal was clear: to create clothing using recycled and sustainable fabrics, with alternative, distinctive designs—at prices that people could actually afford.
In the early days, everything was handmade by Teresa herself: pattern making, sewing, designing—every step of the process.
After a few years, she returned to Spain, her home country, and enrolled in a fashion design program to further refine her skills.
Her dream has always been to create dignified job opportunities for others—and today, that dream has come true.
Most of the production now takes place in a workshop located just next to her studio. Having the workshop so close allows her to collaborate closely with the team, solve challenges in real time, and maintain a hands-on approach.
Teresa oversees all aspects of design, digital pattern making, and fabric sourcing—always seeking out sustainable materials or deadstock from major brands.
She is also passionate about photography—most of the brand’s photos are taken by her. She frequently collaborates with other brands and creatives, including photographers and artists.
In essence, fashion for Teresa is the perfect fusion of everything she loves: illustration, design, music, architecture, and art.
